Darien

Darien is a farm boy turned general in the kingdom of Maris, a world in another time that the Odyssey children Kyle and Anna stumble into. He is the most beloved soldier in the land, famous for felling the enemy commander Sorin with nothing but a whittling knife. The Old Judge has named him the true chosen king, and that secret turns jealous King Lawrence against him. Yet Darien remains fiercely loyal. He refuses to raise a hand against the king, even when Lawrence seeks his life. He is humble in victory, giving the glory for his triumphs to the Unseen One. He is betrothed to Princess Michelle, who loves him. Kyle serves at his side as his appointed protector, while Anna's visions warn him of dangers ahead.
