Old Judge

The Old Judge is a mysterious seer dwelling in the strange two-mooned world of Maris, into which the Odyssey children Kyle and Anna Falken are drawn. A prophet of the Unseen One, he is the one who names the beloved general Darien as the land's true chosen king - a pronouncement that feeds King Lawrence's jealousy and shapes the fate of the realm. Strange power surrounds him: he frees Anna from a slave trader with a wave of sleep, and in his cottage hours pass in minutes and cold tea turns hot again. Protective and quietly formidable, he shelters Anna, teaches her to receive what the Unseen One shows her, and confronts the disobedient king himself, warning Lawrence that he has forfeited his right to rule.
