Barrett Jones

Barrett Jones is a kid in Odyssey, the older brother of amateur detective Emily Jones and son of Simon Jones, a judge. A talented musician, he plays trombone, sings, and wins lead roles in school musicals, and his love of jazz shapes many of his friendships - especially with Priscilla, whom he serenades with a homemade musical birthday card. He is kind-hearted and generous, once giving away his last two dollars to help a stranger buy shoes, but also easily distracted, prone to obsessing over video games or racking up hundreds of online friends who don't really know him. His shortcuts and lapses - skimped Bible verses, a bought test answer - tend to catch up with him, and his tender conscience usually drives him to make things right. Jay Smouse is his frequent rival and reluctant friend.
