Renee Carter

Renee Carter is a bright engineering student who interns at Whit's End in Odyssey. She trusts math, evidence, and proof, and is deeply skeptical of faith. Her belief in God collapsed years ago, when her prayers could not save her beloved childhood dog, Cog. Now she calls herself a searcher who hates not knowing. Renee programs elaborate Imagination Station adventures, including Whittonia, an entire world of gentle creatures she made herself. She is driven and protective of her perfect grades, and her shortcuts sometimes land her in trouble. Whit mentors her patiently, often using her own inventions to raise questions of faith she would rather avoid. She works alongside Connie and Eugene, is the niece of the animal doctor Dr. Pat, and counts the brilliant, awkward Horus Nernst as a friend.
