Monty Whittaker

Monty Whittaker is John Avery Whittaker's grandson, the son of Whit's daughter Jana and brother to the brilliant Jenny. A city kid who comes to stay in Odyssey, he arrives more interested in movies than in chores, house rules, or honest work, and his early stubbornness tests even his grandfather's patience. Beneath the mischief is a boy still hurting from his parents' divorce - his father walked out, and raised voices between grown-ups frighten him into running. Time with Whit softens him: he earns his keep at Whit's End, becomes a champion outfielder on Tom Riley's Coyotes, and slowly learns that rules come from love. Living in the shadow of a genius sister, he longs to be known as more than "Jenny's brother," though he ultimately values family over glory.
