On Kids’ Radio, Connie hosts the Bible Network, a program devoted to the ways Scripture teaches truth, exposes sin, corrects wrong ideas, and trains people to live rightly. She answers young listeners’ questions through a collection of unusual shows in which the Bible provides the decisive evidence.
In “Who’s the Real Sheep?” a contestant must identify the one truthful teacher among five panelists. The others claim that heaven can be earned through partial obedience to the Ten Commandments, that everyone automatically goes there, that it is merely a state of mind, or even that it is a good bowl of clam chowder. The contestant consults Ephesians and learns that salvation is God’s gift of grace received through faith, not something anyone earns by good works. She correctly chooses the panelist who points to repentance and faith in Jesus.
“BSI: Danny’s Apartment” follows an absurdly thorough detective investigating tiny household crimes. Scientific clues expose Danny’s roommate Joe for stealing rocky-road ice cream and smashing a prized watch out of envy. Scripture identifies the sins beneath the evidence: theft and resentment. In the final case, however, the evidence points to Danny himself. His shelf collapsed under trophies he bought to praise his own greatness, and a proverb exposes his pride. The investigator who used Scripture against someone else must allow it to correct him too.
The last program, “Bible Boot Camp,” places three men under the command of the roaring Drill Sergeant Combs. He orders them to read and memorize Scripture, even making them drop down and read verses as punishment. After weeks of study, the men become frustrated by the sergeant’s harshness and begin hurling Bible references at one another as insults. They may know many verses, but their conduct shows that they have not yet allowed those words to shape them.
On the final day, Sergeant Combs leads the contestants into the woods and apparently falls over a steep edge. Two men are pleased to see their tormentor suffer, but Stanley lowers a rope and rescues him. Stanley explains his choice through Jesus’ command to love one’s enemies and pray for persecutors. By putting the teaching into action, he proves that he has truly become more Christlike and wins the contest.
Connie concludes that Scripture must be read, understood, remembered, and lived. It reveals truth about salvation, uncovers hidden wrongdoing, corrects false beliefs, and trains willing readers in righteousness. Its purpose is not simply to supply facts or ammunition against other people, but to change the person who listens to it.
