Mabel

Mabel is a talking computer at Whit's End, the ice cream shop and discovery emporium run by John Avery Whittaker. She lives in a secret room hidden behind a swinging bookcase in Whit's office. She answers to spoken commands, and few people know she exists at all. Whit entrusts the secret to his employee Eugene Meltsner, though Connie Kensington eventually stumbles onto it as well. Mabel once housed Applesauce, a forbidden program that controlled everything in the building - a single careless word was enough to make her load it and plunge the whole shop into chaos. Beyond her hidden room, she is also known as the voice of the Imagination Station Experience.
