Benjamin (c)

Benjamin is the owner of an inn in Bethlehem. He figures in the first Christmas adventure that Connie and Eugene witness when the Imagination Station carries them back to that time. The Roman census jammed his inn to bursting, and Roman soldiers took rooms under his roof. Connie herself was put to work sweeping the place. When a weary carpenter named Joseph arrived begging shelter for Mary, who was about to give birth, not one room was left in the whole town. The couple was sheltered instead in the stable, which turned out to be a cave, and there the baby was born. A strange new star hung over Benjamin's inn, blazing even at midday. Old Hezekiah alone believed it meant the promised King was coming to little Bethlehem.
