Griffin is a football coach in Baltimore. His team includes Buck Meltsner and star receiver Micah Fenton, and he is firm about his rules but willing to reward character. When Buck, newly arrived in town, missed tryouts after a tumble down the school stairs, Griffin at first refused to give him a second chance. But word of Buck's hard work raising money for kids in a mentoring club reached the coach. He decided integrity was more valuable than interceptions and let Buck try out after all, and Buck made the team. Griffin remains the authority his players answer to, whether he is awarding a starting spot, handing down a suspension, or hearing a hard confession at halftime.
