Bill Jenkins is the mayor of Odyssey, overseeing the town's affairs from City Hall. He is a pliable official who tends to respond to whoever is pressing him hardest. When Bart Rathbone complained that a nativity display on city property was against the law, the show was shut down. Whit then persuaded Jenkins that adding a Christmas tree, a menorah, and other seasonal symbols made the display legal, and the mayor even agreed to narrate it himself. Jenkins is also father to Ashley, a talented young softball player, and his protectiveness of her can carry him too far. After she was passed over for an All-Star game, he sued her coach, Tom Riley - a suit he dropped once an honest conversation cleared the air.
