Jimmy Barclay is a boy in Odyssey, the son of George and Mary Barclay and the younger brother of Donna, whom he delights in pestering with riddles, pranks, and doodles. He has a cynical streak, a huge imagination, and a bottomless appetite for fun, from comic books and video games to backyard make-believe. He is a regular at Whit's End, where John Avery Whittaker guides him through scrapes over money, honesty, and prayer. Rides in the Imagination Station carry him to Lincoln's Washington and to Egypt in the days of Moses. Jimmy also broadcasts on Kids Radio and babysits Lawrence Hodges, a daydreaming younger boy after his own heart. His schemes often land him in trouble, but his father's promise holds: no matter what, he can always come home.
