Bart Rathbone

Bart Rathbone is Odyssey's resident shady businessman and the owner of the Electric Palace, an electronics store built on the site of the old castle. He cares far more about a fast buck than about quality, and his schemes are constant. He gouges frightened neighbors during a tornado, coaches a softball team to cheat, blackmails rivals, and once runs for mayor on empty promises. His shortcuts usually collapse on him, often in public. Bart is married to Doris, whom he met while both were running scams at a funeral, and he is the father of Rodney, a bully whose troublemaking mirrors his own. Loud, greedy, and easily embarrassed, Bart nonetheless shows an occasional flash of decency, as when a little girl's sacrifice moves him to tears.
