Zoe Grant
Zoe Grant is an eighth grader at Odyssey Middle School and one of the town's most energetic young journalists. She writes for the Odyssey Owl, the school paper, and also creates audio dramas and directs student plays. She is best friends with Olivia Parker, a bond that survives quarrels, misunderstandings, and hard seasons of doubt. She trades constant banter with Jay Smouse, who teases her endlessly but counts on her when things go wrong. Zoe is quick-thinking and calm under pressure, once rescuing a choking Jay while everyone else panicked. Her faith runs deep. She prays earnestly for her friends and learns that her job is to speak truth and to love, not to make anyone believe. Her mother, Ellie, serves on the Odyssey police force.
