Ryan Cummings

Ryan Cummings is one of Odyssey's most dependable kids, best known as the first mayor of Kidsboro, the town of clubhouses in the woods where children make their own laws under John Whittaker's watchful guidance. Honest to a fault - he once returned nine cents in extra change - he governs alongside his friend Nelson, the town inventor, and police chief Alice, while contending with the scheming Valerie, who covets his office. Away from Kidsboro he plays basketball for the Odyssey Owls, where thanking Jesus after a game-winning shot earns him the nickname "Holy Hoopster," a fuss he answers by insisting prayer is about knowing Jesus, not winning games. A star student who also tinkers with machines in a secret junkyard club, Ryan learns his hardest lessons from Whit, who helps him choose doing right over trusting his own clever plans.
