Imagination Station
The Imagination Station is not a person but a machine - the most famous invention of John Avery Whittaker, known as Whit, and a centerpiece of his shop, Whit's End, in the town of Odyssey. At the push of a red button, it places its rider inside a story and lets them live it firsthand. Most often the story comes from the Bible. Riders have walked the crowded streets of Jerusalem at Passover, dodged King Saul's spear beside David and Jonathan, and watched Absalom steal the hearts of Israel. The machine handles history too, dropping children into Lexington in 1775 or beside Abraham Lincoln in 1865. Whit uses it as a teaching tool. A child who finds the Bible boring, or wants nothing to do with a school assignment, tends to come out changed.
