George Barclay

George Barclay is the good-hearted father of the Barclay family, one of the best-known households in Odyssey. He is married to Mary and is a proud dad to Donna, Jimmy, and little Stewart. George works hard to raise his children in the Christian faith. He reads the Bible at the family table, prays over big decisions, and turns everyday troubles - tight budgets, ruined vacations, broken televisions - into lessons about God. Well-meaning but very human, he can be stubborn about do-it-yourself repairs and a little overprotective of his growing daughter. When his kids fail, though, his first response is usually a hug rather than a lecture. The family counts John Whittaker as a trusted friend, and George often seeks his counsel at Whit's End.
