Caiaphas

Caiaphas is the high priest of the Jews and head of the Sanhedrin, the ruling religious council in first-century Jerusalem - a world that young visitors from Odyssey step into through the doors of Whit's Imagination Station. A calculating and powerful figure, he gathers the religious leaders in secret to argue that one man, Jesus, must die to save the nation, and it is with Caiaphas that Judas hurries to strike his covert bargain of betrayal. Under his direction the council arrests Jesus in Gethsemane, condemns him at a hidden midnight trial, and delivers him to the Roman governor Pilate. To time-traveling children like Digger Digwillow and Kelly, who race in vain to warn Jesus of the danger, Caiaphas stands as the plot's chief conspirator.
