Aubrey Shepard

Aubrey Shepard is a teenage girl living at the Timothy Center, the retreat ground outside Odyssey where caretaker Tom Riley has given her family a fresh start. She is the daughter of Ben and Ellen, who homeschool her, and the older sister of the imaginative Bethany. Aubrey is sharp-tongued, restless, and honest about her moods. She chafes at her parents' rules and their newfound faith, asking hard questions instead of performing the cheerfulness others expect. She loves books, writes poetry that she has recited at Whit's End, and rides horses at the Center's stables. Her closest friend is Lisa Mulligan, a blind girl who once defended her from mockery at the mall. Whit, Connie, and Tom Riley all take a patient, steady interest in her.
