Daniel
Daniel was a Jewish youth carried away captive to Babylon, where his steady trust in God shaped everything he did. Alongside his friends Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, he refused to eat the king's food, and he came out healthier for it. When King Nebuchadnezzar ordered every wise man executed over a forgotten dream, Daniel prayed. He then revealed both the dream and its meaning, and he was made ruler over the province of Babylon. Later, Emperor Darius was tricked into signing a law that no one could pray to anyone but him for thirty days. Daniel kept kneeling three times a day to thank God anyway. For that he was thrown into a den of hungry lions. By morning an angel had shut the lions' mouths, and Daniel walked out without a scratch.
