Lisa Mulligan

Lisa Mulligan is a blind girl in Odyssey, the daughter of Mike and Traci Mulligan and cousin of Nick, who comes from New York to live with the family. The Mulligans run a farm that becomes home to an unlikely menagerie - ostriches, kangaroos, mountain goats, even a baby elephant - and Lisa cares for the animals with a gentle, patient touch, often clashing with Nick's louder, rougher methods. Raised in a family that promises to say yes whenever God's will is clear, she is principled and remarkably brave, staying calm even when facing down a prowling cougar. She stands up for others, befriending Aubrey Shepard after defending her from mocking girls at the mall, and her strong conscience cuts short her own schemes when they drift into dishonesty. She also insists on a fair chance at pursuits like the marching band despite her blindness.
