Fred Holstein
Fred Holstein is the owner and operator of Holstein's Books, a bookstore in the town of Odyssey whose shelves include valuable rare volumes. He is known around town for his odd sayings, which have become something of a personal trademark. His shop serves as a workplace and gathering point for others in the community - Katrina Shanks runs the bookshop for him, and Jenny Roberts, a blind girl with remarkably sharp ears and memory, works there as a bookseller. Through the store, Fred is connected to the wider circle of Odyssey residents, including Eugene Meltsner, whose devotion to Katrina often brings him through the door.
