Curt Stevens

Curt Stevens is a schoolboy in Odyssey and a regular at Whit's End, best known as the town's resident schemer - a kid who will pour more energy into dodging work than the work itself would ever take. He fakes illnesses to escape gym class, invents facts and calls it "journalistic license," runs for student office on promises he never intends to keep, and orders a teacher's edition textbook just for the answers. He fancies himself Odyssey's master prankster, rigging tricks at Whit's End until one finally backfires on him. His closest friend is Lucy Cunningham-Schultz, the earnest young reporter who often gets tangled in his plans and sees through them, while John Avery Whittaker patiently steers him toward honesty. Beneath the con-artist swagger, Curt hides real hurts behind a tough, self-reliant front.
