Timothy "Timmy" Riley was the young son of Tom Riley, whose apple farm lies outside Odyssey. Timmy is already dead when most people in town come to know his story - he drowned as a boy, twenty years before. He was remembered for his kindness, courage, and open faith. He once rescued a scrappy orphan named P.D. Barnes from a bully, brought him home to the farm, and forgave him for stealing the family's watch, necklace, and compass. He told P.D. about a friend named Jesus who loved him enough to die for him. The next morning, when their fishing boat tipped, Timmy pulled the tangled boy free at the cost of his own life. He left behind a secret cabin on the farm, a journal, and a father who grieved him for decades.
