Rudy Sutton is a security officer at Lakeview Prison who secretly assists inmate Bennett Charles. He uses false identification created in Whit's name to buy a car, television, computer, and other gifts for his mother, Edith. Those careless purchases leave a trail that Whit and Mitch can follow. Rudy threatens to abandon the arrangement when Charles withholds payment, but Charles reminds him that a corrupt guard has much to lose. He then helps prepare an emergency escape plan involving a prison service truck. Rudy has access and authority inside Lakeview, yet his greed and lack of caution make him the weak link in a carefully designed scheme.
