Mr. Rose

Rose, usually addressed as Mr. Rose, supervises Wooton Bassett at the Odyssey Postal Service. He values a dependable schedule and becomes frustrated when Wooton repeatedly delays deliveries to help people along his route. After Wooton's fourth delay in one month, Mr. Rose fires him despite Whit's appeal. He later receives a chain of complaints from customers who want their kind and attentive mail carrier back. Faced with proof that Wooton's unusual service matters deeply to the community, Mr. Rose restores him to his route. His practical concern for efficiency often clashes with Wooton's habit of putting a person's immediate need ahead of the clock.
