He is a devoted husband and father, and a faithful NFL fan who hates to miss a game. David is fond of big ideas and object lessons. He calls family meetings, stages backyard experiments, and challenges his kids to take initiative, though his schemes rarely unfold as planned. He works to keep his busy household connected, insisting on shared dinners and a restored Sunday day of rest. His faith shapes his parenting, and he and Eva even offer premarital counseling to engaged friends. Warm, earnest, and a little accident-prone, David is quick to admit when he needs a lesson as much as his children do.
