Leonid Sepanov
Leonid Sepanov is a nineteenth-century Russian philosopher and atheist who died long before he ever troubled anyone in Odyssey. He exists there only as a presence in the mind. Olivia Parker encountered him while writing a research paper, and he took up residence in her imagination as a companion no one else can see. Witty and mocking, he sneers at her open Bible, dismisses her prayers, and keeps asking why she believes in God at all. He insists the real question is whether she can live in a world where God exists. He also serves as the guide in an abandoned life-after-death program Whit built for the Imagination Station. There he welcomes the agnostic Renee Carter, promising her heart's desire while the program loops endlessly back on itself.
