John the Baptist

John the Baptist is a figure from biblical history whom visitors to Whit's End encounter through the Imagination Station. A wild-eyed prophet with a young follower named Micah, he preached God's message boldly and fearlessly condemned King Herod himself. Whit once sent Aubrey Shepard into the Station to meet him. She hoped the fiery preacher could teach her to stand up to her parents. Instead, from Herod's dungeon, he taught her the difference between standing up for what you want and standing firm for what you believe. He refused a deal that would have freed him in exchange for taking back God's message. Long dead by Odyssey's day, he was executed at the demand of Queen Herodias, dying unshaken and content that the Messiah he promised had come.
