John Adams
John Adams was an American patriot of the Revolutionary era and later the second President of the United States. Children from Odyssey meet him through the Imagination Station, which carries them back to his own time. In colonial Boston he mourned at the funeral of a boy shot by a British official. When soldiers later fired into a rock-throwing crowd, he shoved his young visitors Wyatt and Sophie toward an alley and safety. He then stunned everyone by agreeing to defend those same soldiers, arguing in court that even the guilty deserve justice. In Philadelphia he thundered for independence against doubters like John Dickinson and saw the Declaration pass. Blunt and principled, he holds that the greatest patriot is not any man but God, who used flawed people to build something new.
