Solly Mendelson
Solly Mendelson is one half of a retired comedy-magic partnership that has entertained audiences for fifty-five years. Living at an Odyssey retirement home, he and Irving remain fond of Liz Horton and eagerly join a wildly imaginative search when her family disappears. Their love of conspiracy magazines leads them toward secret agencies and smuggled crates before ordinary facts reveal the Hortons need practical help. Later, the partners agree to replace a canceled school performance but fear their old props, jokes, and tuxedos have become useless. Remembering shows that brought laughter to children with cancer restores their courage. Solly's experience proves that a gift shaped by decades of service does not lose its worth merely because fashions change.
