PJ Manning

PJ Manning is a cheerful, eager young man who works at Pete's Gas and Chow in nearby Connellsville. His enthusiasm often outruns his judgment. Jack Allen once hired him as a temporary employee to inventory J&J Antiques, but PJ's work was sloppy and his time card listed hours he never worked. Jack could overlook inexperience, but not deliberate lying, and let him go from a job PJ had loved. PJ also served as an intern at radio station Odyssey 105, where Bryan Dern drew him into a call-in campaign that pressured people into settling petty complaints. A failed lawsuit over ice cream at Whit's End forced him to admit the crusade had made him selfish. At Pete's, his sharp memory for unusual customers once helped Whit and Eugene Meltsner trace an important overseas fax.
