Lucanus is a Roman general in command of the Fifth Legion of the Emperor's army. He appears in an Imagination Station adventure that carries Connie Kendall and Eugene Meltsner back to Bethlehem at the time of the first Christmas. He comes to the town during the census and quarters his soldiers at Benjamin's crowded inn. Old but very quick with a blade, he is worldly, ironic, and charming in a way that unsettles people. He greets the servant girl Connie as a princess rather than a slave, admires her hands, and hints that she would make a fine wife for a lonely Roman soldier. Much of his energy goes into restraining his captain, Felix, whose hand closes too easily into a fist. Beneath the polish, Lucanus proves capable of surprising mercy.
