Felix is a hot-tempered Roman soldier, a captain in the fifth legion of the Emperor's Army. He is stationed in Bethlehem at the time of the census, quartered with other soldiers at Benjamin's overflowing inn. Quick to anger and quicker to draw his sword, he embodies the Roman menace hanging over the crowded town. Connie Kendall and Eugene Meltsner encounter him when the Imagination Station carries them back to the first Christmas. When old Hezekiah declared that the promised King was coming to little Bethlehem as a servant, Felix drew his blade on the old man. Connie leaped in to shield Hezekiah, and the young rebel Judah charged to her defense. That standoff left Judah with a Roman sword at his throat until a general broke it up.
