Henry Ross

Henry Ross is a figure from Odyssey's distant past, an enslaved man once held on a Tennessee farm with his wife Caroline and their son William. Devoted to his family and determined to see them free, he devised a plan for all three to escape and reunite at Cabin Creek, a free community across the Ohio River. Henry and Caroline slipped away by night, following the North Star while a posse hunted them, and found shelter in the hidden rooms of the Underground Railroad. When the Fugitive Slave Law left no free state safe, the road stretched all the way to Canada. Steadfast through pursuit and capture, Henry at last reached freedom there with his son. Through William's descendants, his family line reaches down to present-day Odyssey.
