Emma Douglas

Emma Douglas is an old friend of Whit's and the director of a senior citizens' center in Connellsville. When Whit helps her organize a fundraiser, curious children mistake their preparations for a secret wedding and inspire an elaborate surprise party. Emma arrives on Whit's arm just in time for the misunderstanding to come apart. Years earlier, after she was widowed, a children's club called the Israelites quietly helped with chores around her home. The group had been organized by Whit to perform good deeds without seeking praise. Emma later helps Jack Allen and Jason Whittaker trace the club's history by remembering Billy MacPherson, one of the young people who served her in secret.
