Brian Headly

Brian Headly leads the Brotherhood of Dutiful Youth, a service group known as the BODY. He gathers members with different abilities and assigns each one a necessary role. John LaFete eagerly wants impressive jobs, but Headly repeatedly asks him to drive the others where help is needed. John considers that task unimportant and leaves to form his own group. Without transportation, the BODY cannot connect its gifts to the people who need them and eventually breaks apart. Headly's leadership reflects the lesson that a healthy body depends on every part, including work that receives little attention. By recognizing John's practical gift, Brian understands what John must learn: service matters because it supports the whole community, not because it looks important.
