Eve

Eve is the first woman on earth and the wife of Adam. Together they are the parents of Cain, who envied his brother's offering to God and killed him in a field. Eve's own story turned on the Garden of Eden, where she and Adam disobeyed God. What truly happened in the Garden remained disputed long afterward. She and Adam have been known to argue the question with Satan himself, each telling it a different way. Her name also surfaces whenever obedience is discussed, usually as a warning. Offered a choice of doors, she and Adam picked all the wrong ones. Her disobedience stands as a reminder that wanting what is forbidden, and trusting one's own judgment over God's word, goes back to the very beginning of the human family.
