Radio Theatre: Amazing Grace
|
As I mentioned on Wednesday, I have some new Radio Theatre news to share with everyone today!
Focus on the Family has been working with Bristol Bay Productions / Walden Media since 2005 on this project. Their motion picture Amazing Grace chronicles William Wilberforce’s 20-year fight to abolish the British slave trade. His efforts were successful on February 23, 1807 when the Abolition of the Slave Trade Bill passed in Parliament. 200 years later-to the day-the film Amazing Grace releases in U.S. theaters on February 23, 2007.
Focus on the Family Radio Theatre: Amazing Grace serves as a prequel to the film. This 5-CD set dramatizes the lives of three characters in the film: John Newton, a slave trader before becoming mentor to Wilberforce; Olaudah Equiano, a heroic African writer who bought himself out of slavery; and William Wilberforce himself, whose early years are dramatized here.
A clip of Amazing Grace is available on Tyndale's official site along with a brief description. More information about the film can be found at Amazing Grace Movie, though the site is still being worked on.
The 5-CD Radio Theatre dramatization of Amazing Grace will be available in January, 2007. There will not be individual episodes airing on a weekly basis as has been done in the past with Radio Theatre productions, but you can expect the drama to air as a special in February. |
