Do I have impeccable timing or what? The day after I announce the Soda Fountain isn't going anywhere, the entire site goes offline. A long story short: the domain "aiosf.com" expired today and despite my attempts to avoid this inevitable event, the registrar that owns "aiosf.com" was unco-operative in helping me transfer "aiosf.com" to my current host (Dreamhost). To make matters worse, they renewed "aiosf.com" today but have since locked me out of it... effectively killing not only my website, but all of my email addresses that I use here.

So what to do? Unfortunately, time is not a luxury and I just don't have the time to wait while this gets sorted out. I'm sure I'll get my domain back eventually, but considering they haven't billed me yet and I haven't received any replies to my emails, I don't have the foggiest clue of a timeline in which I could expect the site to return. Not having any emails is also kind of a bummer. So, I now present to you www.AIOSODA.com... the new, permanent address of The Soda Fountain. This will potentially solve another issue I've been having for a couple of years. You may have noticed that Google doesn't index my site. All the other big search engines do, but Google seems to have blacklisted the domain (it appears this domain, long ago, was used to spam people). So, I'm hoping Google will finally index this site like it deserves.

I would like to apologize for the obvious inconvenience this causes for you and I'm doing my best to make the transition as seamless as possible. I would ask that you please update your bookmarks and any links you have on your websites (if you run a website), and I'll do my best to get aiosf.com back so I can re-direct it here for the rest of the year. It's been a rough day, but now that the Soda Fountain is back online, it can only get better!

Thanks for your patience.

Stepping Down from ToO
As most of you are aware by now, I announced I would be stepping down from my position on the Town of Odyssey earlier this month to focus on real life responsibilities and other interests. Naturally this has prompted a few questions regarding the Soda Fountain and whether or not that will affect my webmaster duties here.

Contrary to the superb accomplishment of only one news posting in a month, I am not shutting down The Soda Fountain. I can't promise there won't be a few "update" shortages here and there when the Focus on the Family well runs dry (or I get busy with other things), but I take great pride in this website and I want to continue to provide a service to you, the fans, for as long as I possibly can! There's plenty of things I still want to do with this site and I think, at this point, it appears to be maintaining itself. This is evidenced by the fact the average page hits per day seem to be increasing, not decreasing, despite the overall lack of updates. I assume this is because there's plenty of information available and people come and look things up on a regular basis.

Either that or my stats counter is broken. Which is entirely possible. ;o)

Anyway, one thing I would like to do is to transfer the audio "Talk to the Paw" feature that I started on The Town of Odyssey back to where it belongs. The goal is to create a monthly show that will be between 15 and 30 minutes in length, discussing anything I feel is interesting that relates to Adventures in Odyssey. Those of you who have heard the first two "Talk to the Paw" segments will know that it was related to "Gabriel Dragsack" and ToO related events. However, I have a notebook with random ideas for features I've wanted to do for The Soda Fountain but never had the time to execute and this provides a perfect solution. Recording features, rather than typing them up, is a lot faster and allows for the features to be a lot more interactive.

I'm aiming for a February 13 premiere, kicking off with a segment I've wanted to do for years called "10 Things I Hate about Odyssey..." where I break down the 10 things I hate most about Odyssey (in case the title wasn't explicit enough!)

So no, The Soda Fountain isn't dead... she's just sleeping. But I definitely think she's due for a wake-up call.
