The children of Odyssey decide to go on strike when they get the impression everything they consider "fun" will be taken away from them. |
This episode originally had an AIO shorty in the middle of it. The shorty was titled "What Were They Thinking:? ? Achan". The shorty was also included in the original airing of 446: A Matter of Manners/The Seven Deadly Dwarves, but is currently unavailable in any format from Focus on the Family.

GandalfThe theme for this show is "Panic over uncontrollable circumstances" This was probably done because of the Y2K computer issue, which was rapidly approaching when this episode aired. That is also what the title is probably referring to.
-
JonathanThis episode was originally written for Jared in what became Nathenial's role. However, the actor who played Jared became unavailable shortly before it was recorded due to his role on a new television series, and Nathaniel was given the part intended for Jared. This is why Nathaniel sounds very paranoid in this episode, and slightly out of character.
-
JonathanNathaniel mentions that Jared has "moved away"...though the writers probably did not purposefully write this line for the upcoming Novacom series, this is the first hint of anything related to the Novacom saga. We later discover that in "478: Strange Boy in a Strange Land" that Jared's family had to move away due to the ill-deeds of Andromeda.

Someone tells Nathaniel, "you don't even like video games." Though in "Where There's Smoke," that's what he most wanted to do with Nick Mullligan.
-
Chandler
The whole episode is an allusion to the Y2k crisis that everyone feared would occur in the new millennium.
