Xerial
Xerial was a temple priest in Jerusalem and the father of a blind boy named Josiah. Worried that Jesus would provoke Rome and bring disaster upon the nation, he opposed the excitement surrounding the teacher's arrival. His fear placed political safety above the possibility that God was at work before him. Everything changed when Jesus healed Josiah's eyes in front of the astonished crowd. Xerial saw his son receive sight and began reconsidering his judgment of the man responsible. His position near the temple also placed his family close to the religious leaders' plot against Jesus. Through Xerial, fear of public consequences collides with personal evidence of compassion, healing, and truth that can no longer be ignored.
