Vincent Smouse

Vincent Smouse is Jay Smouse's cousin, a helpful boy who rarely seeks recognition. At the frantic Smouse family Christmas party, he deliberately knocks Aunt Patty's terrible Stollen to the floor and pretends it was an accident. The trick spares his mother the embarrassment of serving it to critical Grandma, though Vincent's frustration sends him storming away. Aunt Patty later insists that she and Vincent make a strong team and belong in Odyssey. Vincent also becomes a real friend to Wyatt Perkins. After Wyatt wastes time searching for a flawless "iron companion" and creates a virtual friend that agrees with everything, he finally recognizes Vincent's value. Vincent accepts the request with amused patience, knowing that genuine friendship includes honesty, challenge, loyalty, and plenty of ordinary time together.
