Victor Herman

Victor Herman manages Chicago's Excelsior Hotel and responds quickly when danger follows Whit and Connie into the building. After two sharply dressed men try to enter Whit's room, Victor has the guest's belongings moved into the hotel safe. He then urgently brings Whit into his office and explains what happened. That precaution allows Whit to inspect a switched laptop securely and discover that it belongs to the Department of Defense. Victor's alert staff and willingness to protect a guest provide a brief barrier against Dr. Regis Blackgaard's agents. He cannot see the entire conspiracy, but he recognizes suspicious behavior and acts before waiting for proof of a larger crime. Professional and attentive, Victor helps Whit identify the stolen computer while the danger around Connie continues to close in.
