Theo Dagmar

Theo Dagmar is a suspicious mountain man whose family has feuded with the McNutts for generations. When Whit becomes lost in Mason County, Theo marches him away at gunpoint after mistaking him for a member of the rival clan. The dispute centers on a lake both families claim, and every accident or insult threatens to restart a shooting war. Theo and his relatives repeatedly appeal to a "good book" they have never actually opened. Whit eventually reveals that county records do not even recognize the lake and that Red Hollard owns the deed. When Red gives the land to both families and Whit reads the Bible's words about peace, Theo finally has a reason to choose unity over inherited hostility.
