Sisera

General Sisera was a cruel Canaanite commander who oppressed Israel for twenty years with nine hundred iron chariots. His army appeared unbeatable on the flat ground near the Kishon River, especially against Barak's poorly armed and inexperienced men. Yet when the prophet Deborah ordered Israel to attack, a sudden storm turned the battlefield to mud. Sisera's greatest military advantage became a trap as horses panicked and the river flooded. He abandoned his chariots and fled on foot to the tent of Jael, hoping to find shelter. Instead, his death fulfilled Deborah's prophecy that the honor of victory would go to a woman. Sisera's defeat ended years of terror and showed that overwhelming weapons could not secure him against the judgment he had provoked.
