Ricky Chang

Ricky Chang is an Odyssey boy whose Chinese Vietnamese family escaped South Vietnam as boat people. He records the first Family Tree program for Kids Radio, using an old unicorn ring to introduce his family's history. The ring belonged to Whit and was carried to Vietnam by Whit's son Jerry before Ricky's great-grandmother Lee preserved it through war, piracy, and a refugee voyage. Ricky tells how his grandparents Tuan and Linh kept their family together after losing their rice business and homeland. Curious and proud of his heritage, he becomes the keeper of a story connecting two families across generations. Whit asks Ricky to retain the ring and use it to tell others about courage, forgiveness, and faith.
