Reverend George Müller

George Müller was a Christian minister who cared for orphans in nineteenth-century Bristol. When his orphanage ran completely out of food and money, he gathered the children, prayed, and thanked God before any answer appeared. A baker soon arrived with fresh bread after feeling compelled to work during the night. Then a milkman's wagon broke down nearby, making its supply available before it spoiled. The children received breakfast through a chain of needs and timely generosity Müller could not have arranged. His example helps Mandy consider whether God still answers prayer. Müller did not pretend the empty cupboards were full; he faced the real need while trusting that God could provide through ordinary people and unexpected circumstances.
