Reese

Reese is a friend of circuit-riding preacher James Klinger in the Arizona territory. He joins Klinger and Nalicadaeh on a dangerous search for her grandfather, the aging Apache chief Masai, who is dying alone in the desert. Their mission becomes more perilous when Pialsiney pursues the chief with a knife and a personal grievance. Reese travels beside the preacher as Klinger discovers evidence that Masai was involved in his mother's death. The journey forces Klinger to choose between revenge and the forgiveness he has preached to others. Reese's companionship supports the rescue effort and places him close to a powerful demonstration of faith, courage, and mercy between men divided by years of violence.
