Randall Edgeware

Randall Edgeware was Rhonda Adelaide's brother and a former member of Whit's third-grade Sunday school class, where he was known as Bobby. Terminal illness brought the two men together again while Randall received hospice care. He accepted responsibility for the choices that shaped his life and refused to let his sister use his suffering as an argument against Whit. Lonely and aware that time was short, Randall first asked only for companionship and a game of Scrabble. He later admitted that he feared death and wished he had listened more closely to his old teacher. When Whit offered to discuss the faith that gave him courage, Randall accepted, recognizing that he might not have another opportunity.
