Phillip Callas

Phillip Callas is a schoolboy whose six-year-old brother, Dean, constantly embarrasses and frustrates him. Dean damages Phillip's school project, disrupts baseball practice, and accepts foolish dares in front of Phillip's teammates. Humiliated and angry, Phillip sends him home alone and wishes his little brother would disappear. When Dean fails to arrive, Phillip's irritation turns into fear and guilt. He joins the search, prays at the construction site where their conflict began, and realizes how deeply he loves the brother he treated as a burden. Impatient but capable of honest repentance, Phillip learns that being his brother's keeper means accepting responsibility, offering protection, and valuing Dean even when caring for him is inconvenient.
